The Yellow Pin is where we currently are, with some delay. Points of interest will also be added as we visit them and lodging ones are already there. Click on blue flight segment lines for flight info and real time tracking (lighter segments are completed). Red Segments have train info and green are for car segments.

History

It all started with the winning of 2 first class Continental RTW tickets from the American Express Wishlist way back in 2007 equivalently delivered with 560K miles. 6 years later with the merger of United and Continental, topping off the account to 700K miles with credit card offers, and a planned Leave of Absence from work, this trip is actually taking place starting 4/3/2013 and ending 6/28/2013.

Last Night in Bangkok

How times flies, we are already moving on to our next destination, Europe. We start in Budapest and be city hoping much quicker now that we have.

Bangkok is a very interesting city, but quite chaotic. Nightlife and shopping are the key here. If you were to remove gambling, then Vegas has nothing on this place. Within say a square mile at city center, there are 5 huge and impressive shopping malls that have amazing décor and have so much available in them its mind boggling. As we are finding in most places, the food is wonderful as compared to the US, and now we are spoiled with amazing Thai food and fruits. The mangos here are perfect and cheap. A large mango here at the most was 50 Baht and in Japan they were about 1200 baht. Food is everywhere here and quite cheap. Mini food cart restaurants appears everywhere on the street. Night markets pop up every night.  Just in a 10 min walked you'll be approached at least 5-10 times to have something sold to you.

We actually saw a movie here, breaking our no movie on vacation rule, cause the cinemas are insane. They have what is called a First Class cinema which by name correctly follows the difference you get with a first class flight.  You have lounge access with food and drink prior to the movie, you get popcorn and drinks in the movie and the seats are giant lazy boy electric recliners with only like 10 per row. They give you a blanket too. All of this is 800 Baht or ~$27. We also go to see the new Star Trek into Darkness movie as it is out here before the US. Score!

Oh and did I say its hot as hell here? Check out some pictures from or visit to the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Reclining Buddha. You can see us melting.
